Fibre Optic Technologies

This course provides an overview of the key technologies in a fibre optics communications network, as well as the application of these technologies in today’s communication networks. Students will acquire a basic understanding of the components required for a fibre optics communication system and the operation of these components. They will also understand time division multiplexing and SONET, how other protocols such as ATM and POS are used to transport data and the application of these technologies in networks today.
