Managing Diversity in the Canadian Workplace

This course deals with the wide ranging diversity that one finds in Canada and in the Canadian workplace. Additionally, it focuses on the three primary rationales for implementing diversity in the workplace. It provides an explanation of the Legislated Discrimination/Fairness Paradigm. Additionally, a description of the main forms of legislation that focus on representation of disadvantaged groups in the workplace are described with accompanying case studies pertaining to specific forms of legislation. Additionally, it deals the concept of the business case paradigm with respect to its appeal and limitations and the Integrated Approach to Diversity with respect to how to make it diverse and creative.

Global Objectives

The global objectives of this course are:
  • To introduce all employees, managers and senior officials to the most advanced and innovative approach to diversity in the workplace.
  • To promote buy-in from all parts of the workforce and avoid backlash from misunderstandings about diversity.
  • To promote the enhancement of valuable human resources and increased competitive advantage through the adoption of our innovate approach to diversity.
